Abstract: The Saffire Experiment represents the first test of spacecraft fires at a scale relevant to real spacecraft. Although large-scale fire tests on Earth are conducted for every type of habitable structure (buildings, planes, trains, automobiles, ships and mines) they had never been attempted in a space experiment for obvious reasons of practicality and safety.
